Camilla Lombardo

South Beach
Camilla Lombardo

Camilla Lombardo is the youngest of three children in the Lombardo family, raised more or less by her two much older brothers, Tony and Don. She grew up with the son of one of her uncles, a boy named Gabe, enjoying the chaos the two of them created, keeping his back while he kept hers. Growing up, she and Gabe enjoyed the sibling match made in hell, or at least in the party foyer right outside.

Amoral, charismatic and deceptively intelligent, Camilla Lombardo has a fearsome reputation for both getting what she wants and disposing of those who prevent her from doing that.  As a friend once said of her:  Realize you’re taking a step down into the shadow of something dark and legendary and not necessarily on your side.

If she’s on your side, though, she will fight ferociously to protect and defend you, annihilate your enemies, and terrify them into never doing whatever it was again. It’s like rousing a dragon.

On the other hand, Camilla makes a great companion and a terrific guest at any event you may throw.  She may seem somewhat incoherent but that’s normal.  It’s camouflage.  It may be difficult to remember that since she’s very good at the performance.

Camilla has rules:

Rule Number One: Don’t Betray Family
Rule Number Two: Don’t Wait for Rescue
Rule Number Three: Do Not Wear Last Year’s Shoes

She creates more as she considers necessary. No explanation is provided.

Camilla and Heydon Mitchell, the lead guitarist in a celebrated metal rock band, have been together for over ten years, much to the astonishment of their friends. They became close while she was following bands and after he had split with his wife. Camilla is not promiscuous, nor would she encroach on someone else’s partnership unless they were friends or family of course and the encroachment was deserved. In this case, it was not.

They have two children whom she both protects and ignores, allowing them a great deal of freedom, only stepping in when harm seems inevitable and imminent. That rarely happens. Her children Hailie and Jaegar (Jay) are resourceful and independent and wary of their mother. They're not quite the same as the rest of the family in other ways as well.

To finalize a description of Camilla, her relationship with Gabe has had a nuclear-level impact from her childhood to the present. She fell in love with Heydon, a man with whom she shares her heart and home, has a full and productive life which she enjoys, is raising children she cares about, but Gabe is still there. He consumes her. She is still savagely protective of his memory.

She would dearly love to see one of her children grow up to be ‘like’ Gabe. Given what Gabe was actually like, that wish might not turn out the way she believes she wants.
